The Royal Bank of Scotland Report on Jobs is compiled by S&P Global from responses to questionnaires
sent to a panel of around 100 Scottish recruitment and employment consultancies. Headlines from the March survey are:

Permanent placements fall for 2nd month running whilst supply of permanent job seekers continues to be exceptionally tight.

Salary pressures remain.

Companies hesitant to commit to hiring but equally labour supply continues as we see a sharp fall in number of candidates for permanent placements

Vacancies rise at slowest pace in just over 2 years.

Permanent placements across Scotland fell for the fifth time in the past six months in March however was still stronger than that recorded for the UK as a whole.

A further drop in permanent labour supply was recorded across Scotland in March, thereby stretching the current run of contraction to 26 months.

The UK as a whole recorded the first rise in permanent labour availability in over two years

IT & Computing 2nd strongest jobs market of the 8 sectors tracked behind Nursing/Medical/Care only.

Temp vacancies fall again in March

The overriding anecdotal evidence is that much of this is caused by cost of living crisis and increased competition for scarce candidates.
